Piemonte: Bardonecchia

Bardonecchia is a fabulous ski resort located in the Val di Susa. It is often called the home of Italian skiing. All levels of skiing are available here. Bardonecchia connects with France via the Frejus Tunnel. The old town or Borgo Vecchio is at the top of town (the upper area) and is very picturesque – quaint and charming. The architecture of the houses here is traditional (of wood and stone). The Chiesa di San Ippolito (16th century) has a beautiful baptismal font from the 16th century and a Romanesque campanile/bell tower. The Borgo Nuovo or new town has all the attractions a ski resort "should" have and then some. The town is wonderful to visit year round and many activities are available to the touring folks. The setting alone makes it worth a visit – you’ll really like the town(s).
