Molise: Bojano

Bojano is an ancient town. It is located at the foot of the Matese mountains near the Biferno River. In Civita di Bojano (the old town) you’ll find the Ruderi del Castello Pandone (ruins). Stop in at the Museo Civico for local history and artifacts. There are also quite a few (very old and very beautiful) churches here too: The duomo/cattedrale di San Bartolomeo (13th century), Chiesa del Purgatorio/San Rocco (18th century), Chiesa Santa Maria del Rivoli (14th century), Chiesa di San Biagio (13th century), Chiesa di Santa Maria del Parco (13th century), Chiesa di San Michele and in the mountains the Chiesa di Sant’Egido Abate. I like Bojano for its ancient center and for basing out of, as there are many interesting small towns in the area.
