Lombardia: Lodi

I stop in Lodi to recharge my batteries. It’s a bustling little medieval town with pretty houses, cobbled streets and a manageable center. The center of town is the arcaded Piazza della Vittoria where you’ll find the 14th century Palazzo Vistarini. The 12th century duomo/cathedral (Romanesque) with the figures of Adam and Eve on the doorway and the town hall are located in the Piazzetta del Broletto. Here you’ll find a pretty fountain. The Church of the Incoronata (Renaissance) has an octagonal interior totally decorated with paintings and gilt (magnificent). It’s also pretty on the outside (there are 4 panels done by Bergognone in one of the side chapels). The San Francesco church has some neat frescoes and reliefs on the pillars inside. The Museo Civico has some fine local collections and archaeological finds.
