Campania: Naples
I have a love-hate relationship with
Naples/Napoli….I love what it has to offer — pizza
was invented here for goodness’ sake! I love that it’s
a busy bustling city (the third largest in Italy) — I’m
a city girl….But, I’m a bit afraid of Naples (and for
good reason — it is the crime capital of Italy). Sometimes
I love Naples and sometimes I don’t — it depends on the
mood and what I’m willing to put up with (traffic is a mess
here) and the crowds can be cloying at times (mixed with thieves
in certain areas of town). And yes, I know the city is trying to
put a stop to the reputation…..I sure hope it works! Now, the
really good thing about Naples is that you can do a good deal of
sight-seeing in the historic center (with relative ease) and quickly
(I don’t spend more than 2 days here).
