Abruzzo: Pescocostanzo
Pescocostanza
is an ancient village overlooking the Quarto Grande (on the
hills of Monte Calvario). It is also a fine ski resort. The
town is lovely with graceful piazzas, palazzi and fountains.
The town is known as an arts and crafts center and youll
see evidence of this as you stroll through town and stop at
the many artisan shops (lace, carving, ironworks). The very
beautiful Santa Maria del Colle (11th
century) is definitely worth a look if only to see the golden
ceiling and the lovely statues located there. Stop in at the
Gesu e Maria cloister its very beautiful
(17th century). You can also visit the home of OttavioColecchi
(philosopher/mathematician).
